Summary of the 2nd Mallorca Western Festivals from 19. – 23.9.2007!  Rudi
Kronsteiner is the outstanding winner of the Open Classes “Mallorca
Reining Trophy” and “North America against the rest of the
world”. In front of the unique scenery of the Plaza de Toros of
Palma the “Mallorca Special of the Apassionata” roused overwhelming
emotions among the audience. After the inauguration last Wednesday evening with a fantastic mixture of Latino pop songs and country cover versions by the Berlin-based Country Rock Group “The BossHoss” together with Loona, who has chosen Mallorca as her home, this action packed five-days event was ended on Sunday evening.  The
culmination of the festival was the competition „North America against
the rest of the world“, with a prize money of 50.000 US$ at stake,
the last one of three top-class Western riding tournaments which attracted
the equestrian world elite to Mallorca. The outstanding winner of the
Open Classes was the Austrian Rudi Kronsteiner with the horses Sailin
Ruf (owner Le Betulle Srl) and Chic N Roost (owner Priscilla Jaquard).
He secured his victory on both, the „Mallorca Reining Trophy“
and „North America against the rest of the world“. With 227
,0 points he achieved the first place at the „Mallorca Reining Trophy“
before Grischa Ludwig who achieved place no.2 with 224,5 points. The winner
of the handsome prize money of 30.000 US$ of the non-pro competition which
took place for the first time on the occasion of the Mallorca Western
Festival, was the Belgian rider Cira Baeck on her horse Don Quixote Escapes
with 222,0 points.  After
the Thursday and Friday shows the audience on Saturday was equally enchanted
by the spectacular horse gala Apassionata. Like during the first two evenings,
riders and artists captivated the spectators with their spectacular performances
of the „Mallorca Special“. With their breathtaking show they
demonstrated the special character traits of each breed like the elegant
Lusitanos and vivacious island horses as well as a charming Shetland pony
and different smart donkeys. This year, too, the unique freedom dressage
of Jean-François Pignon, the darling of the 1.Mallorca Western
Festival 2006, could be admired in the bull ring, causing goose-pimples
among young and old.Besides the show program and the fascinating competitions the Western style exhibitors´ park was another attraction and meeting point for the visitors. Whilst the youngest ones had fun with the pony riding in the Indian village, the adults enjoyed the Western ambiance of the exhibitors´ park and the excellent catering. The VIPs enjoyed a special treat in the boxes with a fantastic view over the arena, reminiscing the Wild West in the VIP area and a big Western style party. After the successful concept of the Mallorca Western Festival has been established it will take place again next year on the Plaza de Toros of Palma de Mallorca.  The
2nd Mallorca Western Festival is in full swing in the Plaza de TorosWith a fantastic mixture of Latino pop songs and country cover versions of the hits from now and the good old times last night the Berlin-based country rock group “The BossHoss” inaugurated the 5-day event together with the pop singer “Loona”.  However
not only musical entertainment was on the program: the stars of the equestrian
show Apassionata gave a short but impressive preview of their performance
which will be one of the highlights on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening.2nd Mallorca Western Festival!  For
the second time Mallorca will be the venue of a top-class Western competition
with riders from around the globe. However, not only fans of the Western
riding sport will have fun: whether it is pony riding, a visit to the
saloon style exhibitors´ park, grooving to the music of the concerts
or the equestrian gala „Apassionata“ in the evening –
there is something exciting for everybody! This mixture of sport, music
and show turns the Mallorca Western Festival into a true family event.
Opening Concert with “The BossHoss” and “Loona”  The
2nd Mallorca Western Festival will be inaugurated on September 19th on
the Plaza de Toros with pop singer “Loona” who lives on Mallorca
and Berlin-based rock group „The BossHoss“. The performance
of “Loona”, however, will not be the only musical highlight
of this evening – the audience will be entertained with a mixture
of her most popular songs together with show acts of the Apassionata artists,
who will present an exclusive foretaste of their equestrian show Apassionata
performed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. The performance of the
country cover band “The BossHoss”, too, will be accompanied
by Western stunts of the competition riders, among them Nico Hörmann,
the present European team champion of the Reining discipline.
The present European team champion Nico Hörmann visits MallorcaOne of the most well-known Western trainers of Germany, Nico Hörmann, is the official ambassador of the 2. Mallorca Western Festival, together with Grischa Ludwig. Both, Nico and Grischa, are completely devoted to “Reining”, the “royal discipline” of Western riding. During the Reining competitions of the Mallorca Western Festival there are not only record prize moneys of 230.000 US $ at stake but also the order on the world rankings. Putting himself in the right mood for the competitions in Palma, last Tuesday Nico Hörmann came to Mallorca just for one day to see for himself how fast the work in the bullring is proceeding. Hörmann: “I can hardly wait to be at the starting line again here on Mallorca. For me the Mallorca Western Festival is the highlight of the season.”  The
set up on the Plaza de Toros is in full swing There is quite some work to be done: altogether there will be more than 70 horses on the premises and this alone requires a masterly performance of logistics. 600 tons of sand for the arena, 100 horse boxes, 20 trucks and much more is necessary to create a real Western world on the Plaza de Toros. crowd went crazy when the incomparable voice of Joe Cocker sounded off
through the bull ring Tuesday night. More than 7000 people did not miss
the chance to witness the star life and be taken away by the unbelievable
vibes. The concert which was organized by Event Consulting International and Awesome Events marked the kick-off for this year’s Hymn For My Soul Tour and was a huge success. From 08:00 pm on the sold out bull ring started to fill with people and the band The Nash put the audience into good humor until the star of the night stepped onto the stage at around 10:00 pm. The balconies and loges were impressively bathed in candle light with torches and the VIP-guests in the loges were offered Canapés and drinks for refreshment. Cocker fired up his fans with almost two hours of first class entertainment and the audience went wild until the very last song. After the concert there was an After Show Party for all VIPs in the classy Urban Lounge Puro Beach where everybody could wind down from the night adequately. The Joe Cocker concert was the first concert of this kind organized by Event Consulting International. the 23rd until the 25th of April Grischa Ludwig visited Majorca to observe
and support the progress in preparations for the 2nd Mallorca Western
Festival 2007. Apart from a trip to the “Plaza de Toros“,
several meetings and press interviews were scheduled.Numerous journalists from local print, radio and television wanted to get a personal impression of the current no. 1 in Reining world ranking and took the chance for an interview on Tuesday and Wednesday in the offices of Event Consulting International in Palma de Mallorca. A lot of the questions centred around Grischa´s Life and work, the development of western riding in Spain and the future of the Mallorca Western Festival. The European Reining Tour (ERT) is THE reining innovation in Europe in 2007 This year’s innovation of the European Reining Calendar 2007 is without doubt the just recently created European Reining Tour (ERT). Composed of international renowned tour stages and top-class participants this tour promotes Reining in all Europe and contributes to the aim to promote Reining as an important part of the international equitation scene. During the tour stages in Germany, in the Netherlands, in the UK and in Austria, the participants will compete at least in one Reining class, endowed with 10.000 $, in order to earn an event voucher (for hotel and for transportation costs) for their participation at the 2nd Mallorca Western Festival (MWF). The MWF represents the “Masters” of the European Reining Tour. The first stage will take place on the 14th of April in Schijndel, Netherlands. Further stages will take place in Vienna/Austria from the 6th to the 8th of July 2007 (NRHA European Affiliate Championship), in England from 26th to the 28th of July 2007 and in Kreuth/Germany from the 30th of August until the 2nd of September 2007 (REIN-O-MANIA). All other tour stages will be published at www.mallorca-western-festival.com and www.wittlersbuerger.de during the next weeks. And this is how it works: The six best riders in the final classification for the “Masters” at Majorca will be supported with event vouchers of a value between 3.000 € equivalent for the first best rider and 500 € equivalent for the sixth best rider. The six riders who receive the vouchers must be of different nationalities. If there are two riders from the same country, only the best-ranked one of them will receive the benefit. Furthermore, in order to be taken into account to win the event vouchers it is obligatory for all riders to participate in at least three of the six parts of the European Reining Tour. Each rider will be ranked in the official ranking in accordance to the prize money he/she has won during the competitions. It is allowed to participate with more than one horse at the competitions. The ranking list will be regularity updated by Event Consulting International (Organizer of the Mallorca Western Festival) in cooperation with the western portal www.wittelsbuerger.de.
